When Servers Crash People Lose Sleep

Not that I get to sleep a lot anyway but Friday night I had a hard drive go bad in a new server I have been working on the past couple of weeks. I was still in process of setting things up so I hadn’t backed everything up on a regular basis so needless to say I lost a bunch of the work I had been doing… including this site. Ohh well.. I think it happened for a reason because the second round of stuff I have been working on is much better than the first.

Check out the new galleryfor alexkah.com. After you get into an actual gallery you can right click it and make it take over the entire screen. Pretty slick! I have been getting some time to play around with my new Touch which is awesome. I did a write upon question-defense.com about some of the apps I like. Since the write up I have found some more that look promising such as fring and grand dialer. Fring is really cool and I hope to be able to use it to make SIP calls after awhile playing with it. Supposedly the mic is turned on in the touch so I need to get one and see if I can’t get fringe to make WiFi VoIP calls. That would be almost get rid of the need to have a cell phone at all. I personally would probably keep a cell anyway to make sure I always had some sort of back up.

I finished painting Haley’s new playroom downstairs. She chose pink and pink to paint the walls and even helped do some of the painting. She is too cute. The little one in Amy’s stomach has been really active the past couple of days almost as if she is doing exercise routines in there. We are all getting pretty excited for December to roll around and now that we are setting up the nursery it is starting to get a lot more *real. It is going to be wild around here with all of us!

We also have some weird problem with the plumbing in the basement and sewer gas is making its way into the house somehow so we are having to jackhammer up all the drains down there and see if a trap is broken or if part of the plumbing is running into a dry well and that is causing our issue. I cannot wait until its fixed though because it just ruins your day when you smell sewer like that. It will be nice to get it all fixed up regardless and have one less thing to worry about for now. This house was built in 1920 so I am sure we will run across issues like that from time to time.

Time to go get some coffee at Starbucks! !~
